New construction can be of any vessel, new or old, power or sail. Models can be built solid hull, plank-on-bulkhead, or plank-on-frame and in any scale. Their fittings and hardware can be working or not, castings or fabrications. All components of an original model are built in house by hand. Materials in new construction include but are not restricted to, common or exotic woods, brass, silver, gold, cotton, linen, and silk. Specific building aspects can be specified or left up to us.

Baseboards are included with a builders plaque but glass cases are not supplied with a model. If a case is needed, orders should be made at time of contract so the model can go directly into the case for delivery.

We are happy to help with a kit model if there is a model that really catches your interest. Either bring us yours or we can acquire it for you. We can build per kit specs or we are happy to embellish the model. Note, many kit models are not supplied with baseboards. We do set the finished model on a baseboard without extra charge as a curtesy.

We are also happy to help with other scaled projects. Over the years we have applied our miniature abilities to numerous aspects of the small world from ships to cars, trains and planes. We have built buildings and furniture for the dollhouse world. Dioramas for HO model trains or town layouts. If it’s small we’re interested.

Fancy hand work is unlimited. Your imagination is your only hindrance. Our experience in the traditional arts of marlinespike seamanship is vast and we are happy to apply our craft to your ideas or needs. Be it decorative or utilitarian we have supplied our service to the traditionalist, the armchair sailor, and the working vessel. We have built complete new rigs for vessels like Spirit of North Carolina and Rebecca of Vineyard Haven. We have built bowsprit nettings, done new wire spliced shrouds, hand bags, door mats, museum replica beckets, bell ropes and jewelry for the sweethearts. Contact us for info.

Half models can be ordered of any vessel, new or old. Model pricing depends on over all size, hull shape and intricacy of the model. Finishes can very from natural to color scheme of the vessel. Back boards very depending on model color scheme and or customer preference. The models are built from wood in a traditional waterline construction ( waterline lift model ).

Restorations and repair work is handled on an hourly basis. Cleaning is done by hand with museum standards. Repair materials are in-kind to what is used on the models. All new components of a repair or restoration are made in house with our fully tooled machine shop.
